What can I do?
The Plantation Assessment Information System provides information on plantation assessment projects in Australia. This information includes the projects, reports, maps, species and data. You can find information about plantation assessment projects, view the reports and display maps. Regional summaries will also be provided soon. You can also look at maps of the data for a region that are created using an Internet Mapserver. More advanced users can customise the maps using the Advanced Map Viewer that can display a variety of data for different regions.

How is it organised?
The main components and organisation of the system is shown in figure 1. There are links to the home, projects, reports, maps, data and species pages from all pages (not shown).

  • Reports - project reports, such as the Assessment Reports for Identification of Commercial Timber Plantation Opportunities in Comprehensive Regional Assessment (CRA) Regions of NSW (BRS, SFNSW & ABARE, 1999, 2000a, 2000b)
  • Maps - maps showing assessment results, such as the area of land capable and suitable for growing Blue-gum plantations in Gippsland, Victoria.
  • Species - species considered in the plantation assessment project, such as Radiata Pine (Pinus Radiata), an exotic softwood, or Blackbutt (Eucalyptus pilularis), a native hardwood.
