Description
A medium-sized tree with a narrow-ovoid crown. Needles appear to be tufted at the ends of the branches. It has 3 dark green needles per fasicle. Bark is red-brown and furrowed when young, becoming very platy. The surfaces of the plates are covered with thin, loose scales that flake off, revealing a light brown to cinnamon color. |

Distribution
Grown in plantations in the coastal regions of northern NSW to Rockhampton in Queensland. It is native to south-east United States of America | |

Wood Properties
Heart wood is reddish brown varying to shades of yellow. Sapwood is usually pale yellow to yellow. Grain is generally straight. A pronounced difference in colour between earlywood and latewood results in a very disinctive figure when back sawn. | |
